#52weeksofnature Photo Contest Week 15 Winner

The winner of Week 15 of our #52weeksofnature photo contest is Bridgette Becerra (@briidgeee). There’s 24 hours in a day and most people sleep for around 8, but if you’re willing to stay up late there is a whole other world to explore. Bridgette has won a $100 gift code to hippytree.com and we are donating $100 to the Access Fund in her name. Learn more about Bridgette below.

Where was the image shot?
Joshua Tree National Park, CA.

What camera did you use and what were the settings?
Camera: Sony A7Rll
Lens: Sony Zeiss 24-70mm f4
Shutter Speed: 30'
Aperture: f/4.0
ISO: 1250

Was there any special preparation required to capture the photo?
Although I did not prep for this shot specifically, there were a few things required. My tripod allowed a thirty second exposure without camera shake. I needed a buddy with a headlamp that could stay still for a couple seconds. Also, patience. It’s all trial and error.

How long have you been shooting?
I’ve been shooting for two years now. I was given my first camera on Christmas from my parents and have fallen in love with it ever since.

What's your camera of choice?
My camera of choice is definitely my Sony. I started off as a Nikon shooter which was totally cool until I decided to make the switch because Chris Burkard spoke so highly of them (who wouldn’t listen to CB?).

What’s your favorite subject matter to shoot?
Honestly that’s such a tough question to answer because I shoot what inspires me and I seem to find inspiration in so many different things, but if I did have to choose one, I’d have to go with nature and climbing. When shooting in nature, I feel nothing but happiness.

Do you shoot with a crew or shoot solo?
It’s always tough to find people that are down to get up super early to catch the sunrise or stay up super late to get star shots so I do find myself shooting solo more often than not. I don't mind because then I can make all the mistakes I want without having to worry about other people's time, but I do enjoy good company and it’s super sweet to see my friends get great shots as well.

What excites you about photography?
Everything. I am constantly learning new things and capturing images that I’ve only dreamed of. Photography has opened my eyes to the many possibilities of what we are all capable of. It’s allowed me to go places I’d never thought I’d go and meet some incredibly rad people. I think what excites me most though is being able to share these experiences and memories through the images I capture.
