Where was the image shot?
Merewether Beach, Australia

What camera did you use and what were the settings?
Camera: Canon 7D Mark II
Lens: Canon 70-200mm
Shutter Speed: 1/2000
Aperture: f/4.0
ISO: 640

Was there any special preparation required to capture the photo?
The preparation is shooting every day no matter the conditions. Learning different angles, light, compositions and settings so when the conditions turn on you are ready to go. Waves can be fickle, so you just have to be there all the time.

How long have you been shooting?
I always had a camera lying around for travel, but 5 years ago I decided I was going to wake up (nearly) every day before the sun and shoot.

What's your favorite subject matter to shoot?
Waves and surfers. Waves of all shapes and sizes, from groomed offshore conditions like this photo to backwash and unpredictable slabs.

Where would be your dream location to take photos?
Teahupoo and Iceland.

Who are some photographers that inspire you?
Chris Burkard, Rambo Estrada, Mark McInnis, Warren Keelan, Dane Grady & Jen Buck plus many many more.

What excites you about photography?
The anticipation and the search for good conditions and new spots. Freezing split seconds in time that otherwise would be missed and the fact that it calls you into nature. I probably see around 300 sunrises a year and I'm not sure if that would be the case without photography.
