#52weeksofnature Photo Contest Week 36 Winner

The winner of Week 36 of our #52weeksofnature photo contest is Dane Amacher (@daneamacher). If you're able to get out of town and off the grid you can find the whole road to yourself. We're printing Dane's winning photo on a HippyTree t-shirt. Explore the Nature Photography Collective section on our site to view t-shirts of past winners.

Where was the image shot?
Alabama Hills, CA

What camera did you use and what were the settings?
Camera: Sony A6000
Lens: Canon 16-50mm
Shutter Speed: 1/4000
Aperture: f/6.3
ISO: 500

Was there any special preparation required to capture the photo?
Not much honestly. We had the road to ourselves for a few minutes before another group came. I told my girlfriend to quickly run down the middle of the road and this is what we came up with.

How long have you been shooting?
I shot with a GoPro for years before I ever picked up a DSLR. It's been about 2 years since I have gotten more serious about photography.

What's your favorite subject matter to shoot?
I am fascinated by a sunrise session in the ocean. Whether there is a surfer tucking into a barrel or just an empty slab that rolled through…that's when I'm in my happy place!

Where would be your dream location to take photos?
I'd have to say Iceland. The landscape and terrain seems unlimited and I can't wait to explore it one day.

Who are some photographers that inspire you?
The list can go on and on.... but @ohdagyo kills it in the ocean and wave scene. @ranznav for travel landscape. @chetsteelephotography for wildlife photography. My homie @kriskuganathan and I bounce ideas off each other daily so would be tough not to throw him in the mix.

What excites you about photography?
The fact that I am rather new to this craft and still have so much to learn and so many places to see. Photography has allowed me to see the world in a whole new way, new light, new perspective and that's what drives me everyday.
