The winner of Week 28 of our #52weeksofnature photo contest is Shayne Stadnick (@shaynestadnick). Shayne has won $150 and is getting his winning image printed on a HippyTree t-shirt. Explore the Nature Photography Collective section on our site to view t-shirts of past winners.

Where was the image shot?
Tofino, British Columbia

What camera did you use and what were the settings?
Camera: Sony a6000
Lens: Sony 70-200mm
Shutter Speed: 1/90
Aperture: f/4.0
ISO: 100

Was there any special preparation required to capture the photo?
This shot is of April’s Pink Moon which is supposed to be the biggest and brightest of the year. I noticed the moonrise the night before and it was also pretty spectacular, so I made a point to be out shooting this evening. Luckily the weather was nice and clear.

How long have you been shooting?
Photography started as a hobby 15 years ago and then became my main passion after my first overseas trip throughout Asia and Australia. I ended up going to photography school after that and within the last year opened my own gallery space here in Tofino, B.C.

What's your favorite subject matter to shoot?
Definitely waves. Anything water and light oriented, but being located in such a beautiful part of the world I do shoot a fair amount of landscapes as well.

Where would be your dream location to take photos?
To be honest I am pretty much in my dream location for shooting! Some days I could do for warmer water or warmer weather, but this area wouldn’t be what it is without these extremes.

What excites you about photography?
I get the most excited about nice lighting, sunrises or sunsets, or a break in the weather when the sun comes out and for a quick moment everything looks magic. To go out and bring my ideas into image form and have people find a connection to my images is a pretty special feeling.
