Where was the image shot?
John Muir Wilderness, CA
What camera did you use and what were the settings?
Camera: Canon 5D Mark IV
Lens: Canon 24-105mm
Shutter Speed: 1/6 sec.
Was there any special preparation required to capture the photo?
This was a spontaneous detour on the way up to Mammoth Lakes. There were some rain showers near the crest so I took a road off of the highway to access the high country. I hiked until sunset, then this happened. It was one of those last minute adventures that ended up being really beautiful.
How long have you been shooting?
12 Years! I picked up a camera at 11 years old.
What's your favorite subject matter to shoot?
Anything landscape related. I shoot a lot in the Sierra Nevada mountains. I live in San Diego, so its a really short trek to get there, and they are undoubtedly beautiful during any season.
Where would be your dream location to take photos?
Iceland and Patagonia are easily at the top of the list.
Who are some photographers that inspire you?
Chris Burkard without a doubt. Not only is his work some of the best in the game, but his outlook on life and his attitude towards everything really provokes how genuine he is.
What excites you about photography?
This kind of ties back into why I love shooting landscapes and weather. Every time I head out, I know It will be different than the last. I can visit a spot several different times and it will never look the same.
